About the athlete

Nekoda Smythe-Davis

Team GB Judoka

Raised in North-West London, Nekoda started judo when a lady came to do a demonstration at her school. She signed up for after-school classes and soon started spending weekends driving around the country to compete. Sometimes she won, sometimes she lost, but she would always have an ice cream to celebrate at the end of the day! Now, she travels the world competing on big stages, at the Olympics, World Championships and many more! Nekoda is the first judoka to have a baby and return to compete at the highest level. She is really inspired by the core values of judo – respect, courage, humility, sincerity, friendship, modesty and self-control.
